Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Yesterday evening I took a bit of time to work on a couple of bikes.

Firstly, the Peugeot 653 had a new 7-speed freewheel onto the Mavic rear wheel and new Bontrager Hard-Case Lite tyres onto the wheelset so it could all be finished off with a little bit of mudguard adjustment:

Then attention turned to the Giant FCR which had a new Octalink V1 bottom bracket, new chain for the first time in nearly 20 years, and an Ultegra triple crankset. I'm happy with the silver, rather than black chainrings on the old Tiagra version, saving about 150 grams. It's all set for local rides plus commuting when I have to use the Park and Ride rather than a full commute:

Both of these give more options than just using the Merida Cyclo-Cross when commuting and I've a couple of bikes - the Peugeot 653 and Carrera Vengeance Magnesium - set up for bad weather road use. Probably only one will stay and I'll decide that over the winter, although the Carrera's frame is already showing some signs of the magnesium corrosion issues that affected them all (in reality it's a re-badged Merida 909 magnesium).

Fitted new disc brake rotor for rear wheel. Old one was 1.51mm thick (recommended limit 1.5mm), new one 1.99mm as measured by callipers. Everything tickety boo after test ride to bed in the rotor.

I’m working on the Trek FX-3 until ‘completion’ today. First task was to clean the new wheels / rims of the Decal residue from the stock DT Swiss RED 🙄 Decals (Which overloaded my OCD beyond comprehension). And then after having surveys done, laser aligned guide plates installed and taking Geographical references from the Sun: apply the new Custom made items I had done; to replace them…..

Which I completed without any swearing, hot flushes or toys being thrown from the Pram 😉

Next as you might see: is binning the Nitto ‘Satin type’ bars: and fitting polished items to go with Polished pedals, post, hubs etc.
What I was thinking when I ordered the Nitto’s I have no idea. Severe brain fade indeed…….😂

Do you end up with a shed full of nice parts that are just not quite good enough ? An how much for them ?

Discovered that no, I can’t drill-and-pin the bars of a bottle cage when the welding breaks away. So second hand replacement it is, then.
