A pair of Dura-Ace 7800 brake calipers arrived this afternoon and they were fitted to the Carrera Vengeance magnesium instead of the Campagnolo Veloce pair that's on there. They'll go better with the Dura-Ace 7800 shifters and 7900 derailleurs and the bike was Dura-Ace 7700 originally. It also helps with adjustability (Shimano's adjusters are at the caliper, Campag's at the shifter). One of the cable retaining bolts was bodged, so I replaced that with a spare, and an adjuster was gummed-up so that was also replaced with a spare I had.

Also, a section of the paint has come off near the bottom bracket. Not much, but enough to be of concern given un-treated paint and water on magnesium frames accelerates corrosion and failure. It's therefore been painted over since it's both my Zwift and bad weather bike.

My Wattbike Atom. Ready for increased usage in the winter months. Cleaned the whole drivetrain and fitted a new chain. Cleaned the connectors and sensors on the prone to getting dirty chainwheel impulse detection / counting gubbings. Toyed with the idea of new bar tape too, but decided that can wait. Cleaned the two fans I use and the Rocker plate that it all sits on. Finally swept up a bit in the area of the garage where it is all set up. Should be all good to go.

Recently, the 25-year-old, ugly everyday bike has started throwing chains (middle to inner). Cable tension/ condition was fine, height & angle on the triple derailleur (also 25 years old) were good too. After resetting the limits, all seems ok again.

The chainstay/ bb gouges - caused by the thrown chain - were cleaned (with a rag, then tinfoil) & sealed with varnish.

Reset V-brake block height and picked out debris, glass shards, etc, from the M+ tyres.

Drive chain fully cleaned & chain re-waxed. Frameset & wheels polished.

Just completed a 15 mile on & off road test ride after bleeding the brakes on the Ti Elan and everything now works as it should. It'll probably need new rear pads by the end of the year looking at those taken out to complete the bleed.

Having read somewhere on cyclechat about the easiest way to get the last bit of your tyre on the rim is to place it on the floor, put the edge of your shoe on tyre the lever the wheel away from you. I went and tried it and behold it worked, in fact it was harder to get the bead over rim than getting it back in the rim.👍

I bought a second hand folding e-bike and gave it a good service and actually made it rideable once more… very satisfying. Just waiting on a new set of folding pedals to arrive.
