No real issues in the end ;got steerer cut ok and even managed to re-connect the hose without needing to bleed them and the hose was (just!) long enough to reach. Had to find some different stays for the front mudguard and looks like there will be loads of clearance for a 35c at the front now.

Was going to swap the GRX rear brake for an Ultegra one but ran out of time.

Will give it a gentle spin tomorrow to test it's all ok and then double check torques and thread lock mudguard and front light bolts.

Prioritised fixing windscreen washer on van this afternoon.
- Passenger headlight out to access fuse box to test fuse; fuse is good :-(
- Driver-side headlight out to access washer-fluid reservoir and pump
- Check power getting to plug connected to motor - a faff with one pair of hands - all good.
- Removed pump, took photo and prepared to order a new one.
- Gave pump a tap before replacing and hey presto started working just a quickly as it stopped
- Don’t understand why, but now have part number and knowledge to replace if pump fails again
- Frustrated at engineers who don’t make things easy to access and maintain - who hides a fuse box below a headlight!

Tubeless rim tape arrived today - 60m roll so in addition to taping the target wheel also re-taped one where my previous efforts were sub-par.
Left wheel pumped up with inner tube for the rest of the afternoon and set tubeless this evening.
Eventually finished trimming stays for mudguards, now fitted ready for the wetter weather.
Fitted larger, waterproof, saddle bag for a little more space for extra layer during winter riding.

Played about with my MYOG under-saddle drybag carrier, it was a first attempt but seems to function well enough. Whether I’d actually use it or not I’m unsure. However, it cost nothing and made use of a tyre destined for landfill.

Hoping for weather and opportunity to take the bike out tomorrow afternoon.

A rather satisfying day fettling with both van and bike :-)

After double-checking yesterdays crank install - it occurred to me the engagement of the sprocket bolts (Which thread directly into the Aluminium crank arms from the rear): wasn’t very much at all 😳

Bolt lengths available seen to jump from 10.3mm (Typical Double chainring length) to 14.8mm (Typical Treble chainring length). I of course worked out I needed about 12-13mm 🙄 in order to use all the thread available on the crank arms - and end up flush at the front. So I ordered some 14.8’s off Amazon last night.

As expected and when fitted and tightened - they projected out the front by 2-3mm 🤨

So rather than going straight in from the rear with the longer bolts - I first wound a short / stubby Female half / insert: right upto the underside of the longer bolt head. So the fit of the bolt into the sprocket was better; and the shoulder of the Female part acted as a small but tight spacing shim:

And upon tightening - the length is now absolutely perfect. Giving full bolt / thread engagement 👍

In the third picture I noticed a speck of dirt .....🤣
