Idly browsing new bikes I come across the term "Duo Trap compatible" I would hate to buy a bike and find it incompatible with my duotraps.....

LINKY something to do with this?

It's a cadence/speed sensor made by Bontrager that fits into a gap in your chainstay. I have one fitted on my Domane. No better than the Wahoo that I use on my winter bike but it integrates with the frame nicely. Note that there are two different types if you're considering buying one. Buy spare magnets for the cranks if you do - they have a nasty habit of breaking.

I got a set of 8mm x 10mm neodymium magnets which I attach to the steel pedal axles on my bikes. It is almost impossible to remove them as they are so strong the just cling to the axle under all conditions. Would they work with the duo trap module do you think or would the sensor position be a bit out? I'm just curious as I quite like the look of the Trek bikes and already thinking about n+1.

Thats just an ANT+ sensor Giant used about five years ago .

DuoTrap is the Trek version, as @barongreenback says. The Giant version is called RideSense.

Same thing though.

I would be wary of magnetic units remaining attached in snowy and icy condiitions, though, as the snow and ice seem to act to pry the magnet away from the metal, having used magnetic signs on busses in a few wintry situations. We went back to framed signs.

I have this set up on my Domane and it works fine.
