I think the way that the funding has to be used in financial years is stupid, and does result in lots of stress at the end of the financial year to ensure you use it. I'm sure it results in money being wasted as it is difficult to properly co-ordinate projects to fall neatly in a financial year. Miss applying for something by a couple of days and you have lost the funding completely.A lot of road works and similar capital projects are started every March in order to use up the allocated budget before the end of the tax year so that councils spend their allocations, otherwise in the next year's budget council's are penalised for not needing as much as they claimed for so the following year's funding is cut.
I'm assuming it will be on the road on the ring road, though they have removed the bus lane at the roundabout, it's the space for the bus stops and for pedestrians on what is a very non standard width path in the first place, let alone the disruption as they put it in.The 'proposed' Metrobus system could pose a problem to cycle paths in the future !
The plans for the Emersons Green section seemed to go straight along the existing ring road cycle path ?

the only bridge I can think of ... they can't removed and then eventually replace ... Don't they need to provide the new one first? Whilst I wouldn't enjoy going on the dual carriageway at that point, the kids who cycle along there going to school aren't going to transfer to the road.they will be claiming the grass verge and removing (and eventually replacing) one of the foot/cycle bridges
When you say

And there isn't any space to use between the Hambrook lights and the motorway junction, the narrow path is already next to the hedge that I assume is the boundary of public land.
And the 2+ lane is completely pointless I often look in cars as I pass them and they are usually occupied! the only time that lane runs ok is when those 3 guys in their hi-vis sit there counting how many rule breakers there are. Even then some still ignore the fact it's meant to be a two plus lane.
How did I miss thatThe police did a two day sting on the 2+ lane about three weeks ago, possibly based on the fact that nobody expected the police to enforce it two days in a row, the queue of cars pulled over by the police on both mornings was a glorious / disappointing sight, it really needs to be enforced more regularly.
I saw that and thought I'd rather they had spent it on some thing else!
I think that you will find that the council has a Labour majority. If you vote for muppets, you get what you asked for.@User14044 the thing is Bristol was given so much money and all that have done is screw everything up. But yes the tories have been a bunch of etonian daffodils

Like a park and ride built on the outskirts without a bus service (no joking, I drive past a massive empty car park every day). So money is not an issue, just how it is spent. Same old story.
