What is the best material for a Cyclocross frame to be made of?

I want to build a Cyclocross bike and I'm trying to determine which frame material is best for this type of bike class that needs to be able to take a tremendous amount of abuse. Please take a moment to answer the Poll I created. TY in advance for your input.

Is the bike actually for racing, or as many CX bikes (styled, or actual) going to be an all weather commuter/'potterer'??
