What is the hole for either side of front fork?

On the Triban 540 front carbon fork there is a hole on each side. If the holes had been on the rear stays, I would have assumed they were rack mounting points

Dunno? The holes do not go all the way through of course. I have looked at the hole with a torch & magnifying glass and cannot see any threads. If there are any they are very small and recessed right inside.

Decathlon website says they are for mounting a front rack.

They are steam outlet holes, but only really come into their own above 35km/h.

In earlier designs they were fitted with lasers to defend against puncture fairies, but they didn’t prove cost effective, so now they are put to other uses. HTH.

Actually, I did find they also emit the release of steam (below the speed you quoted) when attempting to negotiate 2 or more hills consecutively without stopping. Rutland rd followed by Shireliffe Rd in Sheffield triggered the valve release on Thursday's maiden voyage.

flippin' 'eck mate that's got to be the hardest route from Sheffield to Rotherham, last time went up there was to watch the 'Tour de France' in 2014, Barnsley Road too busy ?, why not just whizz down Attercliffe Road, then again it's probably been redesigned since I last rode around Sheffield......
