I reckon its because its inhabited, unsurprisingly, by cyclists.

Toleration is the greatest gift of the mind; it requires the same effort of the brain that it takes to balance oneself on a bicycle.

I've been browsing a car forum recently, looking for local meetings, and dipped into the equivalent of The Cafe. I got a a pervading sense of a lot of people looking down and ridiculing others, a thread called 'a bit Council' and some willy waving over exotic cars and big houses. Could be it was just the threads/posts I picked up on, but not really a forum I'd join.

Take a good look at some of the others and you will soon see that that is not the answer!

I used to hang about on Bike Radar but couldn't stand the bickering and name calling so I left.

I was involved in the C+ forum, a bit, and the CTC one too.
This is the only forum where I've felt engaged and included, and I've met a fair few people from CC. There's people on here who I consider good mates, even if I haven't met them yet.
Long may it continue!

Yeah, I migrated here from Bikeradar too, there decent nice people over there too but not the whole vibe is a bit more cliquey and on edge.

CTC is worthy but dull dull dull.

Here seems to have the right mix of humour and getting to the point good advice and no particular gang in charge, nor mean feeling one-upmanship between skinny wheels, knobbly tyres, commuter slicks etc. Also that everything not having a diamond frame doesn't just get lumped together in a 'non standard HPV' ghetto.

A lot of credit needs to go to Shaun and his accrssibility and the ethos with the mods that he sets for the site.

Oh and the ignore button judiciously used helps, we're a broad church and can't all possibly be mates, it is nice to cut out (& no doubt be cut out by) those people you wouldn't choose to sit next to in the pub in real life.
