Specifically that dead period between 2pm and 4pm.

When I was working I'd get in early, work hard and fast, have a lunch break from 1.30 to 2pm then pretend to work from 2 to 4.

Now I'm retired I'll cycle, garden or join a social group in the morning. In the late afternoon I'll start cooking, eat, do bike maintenance or a bit more gardening, but what is the point of mid-afternoons in your life.

If I could I'd exchange those hours for an extended spring and autumn.

During the week I usually work or sometimes pretend to but it depends how busy we are. Weekends I want to make the most of the day, so I am usually busy doing things mid afternoon, especially in winter when you're trying to get stuff done before it gets dark. I'm certainly not a night owl though, so 16:00 is getting towards evening for me

My wife has not been too well in recent years and finds the best time to do stuff is morning so she usually has priority over what we do in the mornings.

Luckily, I have never got into afternoon (or morning) TV watching.

I hate gardening and do it as rarely as possible, usually evenings.

My daughter lives in London so luckily I don't get asked to do school runs by her.

I don't bet and drinking in the day leaves me sleepy so drinking only takes place with mates in the evening. (Except this afternoon when I've met up with a few old work colleagues for a meal and drink).

I don't work.

I never snooze in the day or evening.

Cafe stops can be done morning or afternoon.

That leaves afternoons for my cycling and I find I enjoy it just as much as morning rides, even in the higher temperatures of the summer, and especially with the cold winter mornings.

If I'm still alive when I get to retire  mid afternoon will be my wee snooze time.
As it is now, I'm normally either working at that time, or getting ready to leave work.

Today, was looking in detail how to shake up a 'Department' at work - the problems are long and complex. I'd have loved to go for a snooze. Roll on retirement.

TBH, daytime snoozing doesn't work for me. I'd be happy pottering around the garden catching up on a few repairs/ plant watering etc after a ride in the morning.

One of the guys in our meeting had done Ramadan, and it's fortunately 'over' tomorrow. He was struggling this afternoon in the meeting, dropped off a few times. His blood sugars must have been through the floor. Fortunately, we are in a workplace that is inclusive so we kept an eye on him. I asked after, 'are you OK, you seem to be struggling today'.
