hi . i wondered if anyone could help , i done lands end john o groats earlier this year and really caught the bug . the only thing is , what now . i wondered if anyone else has done it and moved on to something else . i dont really want to do it again unless its a different way , i've been looking at audax riding what could be interesting and also looking at doing france top to bottom what could be better weather ( certainly couldn't be worse weather ) just would like some opinions please

After doing LEJOG I did a Channel to Med ride before doing a JOGLE. I'm currently doing Eurovelo 6 in installments.

Channel to Med was great. I caught the European Bike Express to Calais and was picked up by them in Montpellier. The campsites are cheap and usually plentiful. Scenery is great and I was lucky enough to pass through Provence when the temperature was rarely above 85 F. The locals were wearing sweaters and cursing the cold.


For EV6 I caught a ferry to St Malo and pedalled to St Nazaire before turning eastwards to follow the Loire. I have got as afar as Passau so far.

Ive done France bottom to top- great route. I actually flew to Girona in Spain and cycled home doing the Pyrenees in the process.

I did it that way around because Ryanair fly to Girona from my local airport....so within a couple of hours I was in the sun cycling up some glorious Spanish roads.

I can vouch for the Bikeline books. The Danube Cycle Route series is in English and is great for outlining the route and pointing out places of interest.

I used the ferry from Ijmuiden to Newcastle and has a very comfortable overnight journey. It's worthwhile booking your meals in advance for the discounts on offer. There is a fast ferry from Amstserdam Central Station to Ijmuiden leaving only a couple of kilometers to pedal between the drop off point and the Ijmuiden - Newcastle ferry.

It's a springboard to whatever you like.

If its something closer to home you're after, you can't go wrong with france and spain.
