What should I pay to have a wheel trued?

It's a Mavic Aksium and worth saving IMO.

Two spokes were loose and it is a bit out of shape.

What should I pay to have it trued?

10-15 quid as long as the nipples are not seized which Aksium wheels are bad for.

It depends, like others have put, on the condition of the wheel. I've paid £8-15 at my LBS.

That's really quite reasonable.

Easy enough to true a wheel yourself. Get the spoke key, watch a youtube video, or read a good guide. If you cock it up, you can always take it to a LBS. Just don't randomly tighten and loosen spokes hoping for the best, approach it rationally and with a basic understanding you can true it up nicely in short order, assuming the wheel was built properly in the first place.

Isn`t it the experience that is being paid for, not the time. Knowing what needs to be done and how to do it correctly.

Nipples are OK at the mo.

Not sure that a wheel build is a 5 minutes job. A wheel trueing maybe, but not a wheel build.

Ah yes, I missed that, very reasonable for a full build!

Usually a tenner for us to do it plus spokes if needed;obviously will depend on the condition of the wheel,if some nipples are seized or rounded off then obviously it'll take longer to do.

Oh and don't assume that your LBS can do it there and then,give them a ring first.
