Wait 'til you reach 61 !

As above my rides nowadays are planned for quality not quantity. Got a good one set up for tomorrow, only 44 miles but through some absolutely stunning scenery and quiet roads on the SW fringes of the Dales. I expect we will average about 14.5 mph.

Ha ha - this 61 year old tends to average more like 11.5-12.5 mph on hilly rides. Maybe 15 mph on longer, flatter rides.

It's winter. More clothes, more wind, more wind resistance. Plus for me add in dark and damp tends to slow me a little bit particularly in traffic but a route where on a good summer day I can average 17+ hasn't seen an average over 15 since October and it's quite often in the high 13s.

I've had a month of the bike and to be honest last yeat I stopped and started that many times I never got much fitter.

My average yesterday was 14 mph over a fairly flat 20 miler.

Got a lot of work to do
