Love your assumption that because somebody can't afford to pay for their bike repair they must have stolen the bike, or would be prepared to steal another to replace it.
Well the guy has returned, collected his bike and paid in full. Didn't seem to have any issues with the work or the customer service. Everything was pleasant and cheerful.

To be honest I was so pleased he turned up at all that I didn't mention it in any adverse way. Just said I'd tried to contact him but it didn't matter because he was here now.
My Brompton's been at the bike shop for four months waiting for naughty drivers insurance company to pay up for repairs. I keep offering to get it out of the way but I think they grown attached to it now!
