In this case the customer probably can't afford the repair and has just gone and stolen another BSO.

Love your assumption that because somebody can't afford to pay for their bike repair they must have stolen the bike, or would be prepared to steal another to replace it.

Cyclo, just put it down to experience and is something that will happen, most important thing is to keep smiling.

Trying to get a deposit is not I feel the right way to go. Break the bike down and store it in box if space is tight.

Well the guy has returned, collected his bike and paid in full. Didn't seem to have any issues with the work or the customer service. Everything was pleasant and cheerful.

Good stuff. Some folk just can't be bothered to be civil and let you know when they will collect. Poor manners.

My Brompton's been at the bike shop for four months waiting for naughty drivers insurance company to pay up for repairs. I keep offering to get it out of the way but I think they grown attached to it now!
