I watched Grand Designs last night.
Another complete financial disaster, with a young couple who appeared to have no financial means to support their lavish lifestyle.
They had managed to get themselves into £700,000 of debt plus borrowed from family and used inheritance.
completely irresponsible and I wasn’t even that impressed with the end result.

We've just binge-watched the whole of Renegade Nell and very much enjoyed it. Despite the fantasy realist elements the producers had clearly paid a lot of attention to period detail.

Unlike those of Shardlake. We liked that too, but to a household of archaeologists their version of ye mediaeval Englande left a lot to be desired. Grapes in the middle of winter in the 16th century?

A very solid start to the final series. I feel it's dipped a fair bit in recent years, so hopefully they'll string some bangers together for Series 9!

It was always a bit hit and miss, but when it’s good it’s fantastic.
They have confirmed that this is the last series. So will hopefully go out on top.

Perfection.

I've not seen much of this series, hopefully they'll do a good box set of it. There's a lot of potential fun to be had with DVD menus, packaging and fun stuff.

ETA: I should have checked, of course they have something planned.

Consistently one of the best things on TV,I think they're geniuses.Was hooked on them from the very first episode of The League of Gentlemen.
It's a tough call to make every instalment a favourite....that's what makes it so good.
You'll miss it when it gone though ☹️

Oh dear oh dear oh dear! It was abysmal and probably the worst episode I have ever seen in well over 50 years of watching.

Maybe the big reveal will be that Russel T has been replaced by a space alien doppleganger

Ooh is this a new series? They seem to do a lot of revisiting places or doing builds that didn't get completed whilst they were filming.

I've just finished Class Act - the Bernard Tapie drama that did well at the Baftas this year. It's on Netflix.

I was waiting for the bit about La Vie Claire to come up but they ignored it completely. Disappointing. 1/10 for cycling interest and that's only cos they feature Wonder quite a bit and they were a co sponsor of the team.

Well, with great misgivings I watched the second episode, which involves a powerful evil spirit stealing all music: really good !

Excellent period detail of the 60s, with a pretty good script from Russel T himself

Anyhow, definitely worth persevering after the poor start of the previous episode. I rather like
Ncuti as the Doctor; he's got what it takes in terms of gravitas and seriousness, and has good rapport with the new companion Ruby Sunday

watched Where the Crawdads Sing last night ,what a good film. Did shed a wee tear and a cracking twist right at the end !
Then we put on Kin , well a couple of episodes into that and it seems like a good watch .

Liking Ncuti and Ruby a lot. But the scripts are poor. The babies one was sort of OK ... and then this musical episode sucked.
The landmine one had probably two cute ideas ... but then they forgot to write a coherent story round them, and threw in some distracting extra romance/family elements.
I think we're going to bin the remaining episodes unless any get overwhelmingly good reviews. The Welsh episode ("73 yards") is getting big love, but all the criticism is of a story that doesn't tie up, which is exactly what frustrates me about so many recent episodes!
Such a shame - some great ideas, ruined by slipshod writing, and the constant, relentless background music. Just turn off the orchestra while the characters are having a normal conversation, pleeease!

King Cinder... a teen crime drama from 1977 staring Peter Duncan. The haphazard plot revolves around corruption, a protection racket and speedway racing. The theme tune is fabulously funky though.
