Last night; All Creatures Great & Small

It’s not ‘Disc World’ related, & Sam Vimes, is it?

I was wondering that, maybe a nod to pterry?

No but one of the cops was played by the same person who played Vimes in the series that was loosely based on Disc World
or at least based on the description someone told the writer about in a pub several years ago when he was drunk and didn;t remember all of it

anyway - very good character in both - but a very recognisable actor

Whilst waiting for some of the autumn releases to stack up for bingeing, I stumbled across Fearless, a 2017 ITV production currently on Netflix.
It's an absolutely solid miscarriage of justice, corruption to the very top type thriller. For a few minutes I thought they were going to botch the landing when the action moved to the States but they clawed it back.
Despite reviewing well, it didn't do the numbers so there's no series 2; some of it smelt like they wished they'd been able to cast Nicola Walker.

If you liked series 1 & 2 of The Diplomat, series 3 won't disappoint: gripping, funny and worryingly believable.

With the first 20 episodes taking place over about a fortnight, it's nice that they shuffled things forward a few months halfway through this series.

While flicking through the Freeview channels last night, I discovered that Star Trek Strange New Worlds season 1 was on at 2220 BST on ITV1 and the +1 an hour later, with the first two episodes back to back.

Apparently it's avalaible on ITVX too on demand, but not checked.

Early days and it's been decades since Next Generation and Enterprise, but the first two episodes seemed awfully slow, not much happening and low budget. Almost felt like a modernised version of the original series, even down to Captain Pike looking a bit like Kirk once he had shave!

Finished watching the last episode of Task last night... probably helped that I couldn't binge watch it, but overall thought it was a well acted show.Seven episodes was just enough.

Must admit, I gave up. I found myself just watching it for something to do, I didn't care what happened. I wasn't invested in it I suppose. I switched it off and picked up my book. It was OK, and Ruffalo's character was interesting and well played tbf.

We've been watching "Blood" which is not new, but new to us as it's only just arrived on Netflix.

First series was very good. Second series follows on from the first but is not as good, still worth a watch. The cast is good; Adrian Dunbar and Carolina Main stood out for me

Round daughter #3s at the weekend and the had the telly on and I was aghast to see a BBC weather presenter wearing jeans and a rumbled shirt with no tie! No wonder licence payers are leaving in their droves with such an erosion of standards.

Weather presenting is something I still can't understand. Employing people costs and budgets are limited yet eg BBC still seems to have loads of regional weather presenters who only appear briefly to read a forecast pre-prepared by a non-UK company.

Then some days we just get the newsreader giving brief overview for a few selected cities (eg " in the south rain on Wednesday improving later becoming colder". If brief summaries are OK for some days why not all days and save the money; if brief summaries are not adequate we should be given proper forecasts every day.

They have become more entertainment to fill a bit more airtime than any meaningful advice.

Was that on Countryfile as they always dress down when on there.
