I enjoyed it too. I do love my detective series. I though Cooper & Fry was really good too.

I steer well clear of anything police-ey on the TV. I just pick fault and end up getting angry.

Watched first two episodes of The Battle between Land Sea last night.

Basically a Dr Who spin off. I was hoping that as on at 20:30 it might have been a bit more adult but its same old Saturday teatime fare. (Yes I know yesterday was Sunday).

It was OK no more. Also stars Russell Tovey who is incredibly annoying.

We've just watched episode one and thought it
rather good. I had rather low expectations to be honest, given some of the more recent Doctor Who stories, but fair play it was first rate thus far. Particularly liked the way the "everyman" character was introduced, and how well he acted this part.

Just watched the first two of that Dr Who Spin off with a rather long title ! Better than Dr Who as that's gone PC and woke. I bet someone had a load of fun on set chucking all that rubbish about !

That sounds interesting. Do they have Engrenages available? It was shown on BBC4, translated as Spiral, but not available on iplayer, and have been wanting to watch it again.

No, Spiral isn't on it, your best bet for that is DVD.
It mostly has films and series that are less well known outside France.

Did pre-woke Doctor who help the powerful and those in authority opress the underdog, and help the big corporations destroy the environment and so forth?

I love foreign language drama, and that's the majority of what I tend to watch. Used to watch it mainly when I used TrainerRoad, but I'm more Rouvy these days, so that doesn't work anymore.

Walter Presents on Channel 4 is my general go to.

Anyway, I digress - just finished watching Marbella:

Don't let the picture put you off, it's a 6 part series, and I think a second series has already been filmed, and the first 2 episodes are pretty easy going, it almost feels a bit desperate housewives, but then in episode 3 it takes a proper turn, and becomes increasingly dark.
The lead character is a lawyer, and it's basically about his interactions with his family, business partners, and then the local criminal elements who he tries to help/stitch up as he sees fit.
There's also a police officer (Unsurprisingly not pictured above) who he has a grudging relationship with.
I rather enjoyed it, pretty entertaining, and a lot of tension as the episodes go by. 8.5/10 for me.

*There's no likeable main characters in it in my opinion - ok with the exception of the stepdaughter I suppose.
