What TV are you watching?

A sad night a bit few nights back; we watched the final 6 Feet Under. It was like saying goodbye to a true friend, a real sadness. We've been watching series 1 thru 5 over the last months. It's excellent, up there with my favourite ever TV series.

Finished The Man In The High Castle too. Not in the same league as '6 Feet Under' but a good watch, though the final season (5?) took a little adjustment what with a major character being written out (actor not available)

Now to find something else.

I made it through about 1 and a half seasons of The Man in the High Castle before concluding that the Man was fast asleep.....as was I at that point.

I enjoyed Man in the High Castle and 6 Feet Under... but never got to the end of either of them. I didn't give up... just kind of forgot about them.

As I say, the last season of Man High Castle does track differently - and not just as a means to wind it up. It MAY be more enjoyable to those that found the earlier seasons a bit meh or slow or whatever.

My watch list at the moment is Beef (season 2), The Madison, Dear Life, Detective Hole and Girl Taken. I've started watching and binned Bait and Mint.

The Madison has been mentioned before on here I think. Another Taylor Sheridan (Landman) creation and indeed has shades of Landman to it. It's a homage to a landscape, an era and a culture (no surprises that it name checks the Robert Redford movie 'A River Runs Through It') and is arguably overly romanticised. That said, it has some cracking 'anti woke' lines and speeches (as we'd expect from Sheridan) - not quite with the same level of Landman humour but biting none-the-less. It's a good watch and Michelle Pfieffer is enjoying herself - it's always good to see an actor relishing their role. He's enigmatic is Taylor Sheridan, one has to wonder at his politics and beliefs. How serious is he being behind those laughs?

Surprise watch is Dear Life. It's an Australian production (on Stan if that helps anyone) that got a very sniffy review in The Guardian. I wasn't expecting much but I'm enjoying it greatly. Balances grief and humour well, as a widow makes contact with donor recipients of her dead husband's organs. There's a smile (rather than a lol) in the black humour but it never teeters over into either misplaced comedy nor overtly maudlin - as I say, balance. It's thoughtful and thought provoking. I recommend it.

Superb. I'm binge watching 3 episodes a night and having to reign myself in from watching more!

We’ve just finished Series 2 and concur, also had to ration the binging.
I do feel emotionally rinsed, but in a good way. Series 3 of The Pitt is due next January.

Feels quite strange not having the tv on the background, as per normal, after 17 days of the snooker world champs!

The senior world champs starts tonight, but besides Ronnie joining them this year, I'm not sure I can watch many of the others.

Sitting through the 'Professor Jiang let me explain' lecture interview on A Diary of a Ceo.
A Canadian Chinese guy who only very recent chose to put lectures on Youtube after the birth of his child.

I can see why he is so celebrated, myself having vaguely heard of him. He works hard so the accuracy of what he says seems extremely high. It even answered a few things prior much puzzling me.

The documentary about the Salisbury poisoning is interesting, I hadn't appreciated just what lengths they went to in the clean-up. The inside of the Skripals' house was stripped empty right back to bare brick, and the policeman and his family also had every last possession they owned in the world incinerated. The officer in charge of the army decontamination team was in tears when he spoke of the child's note asking them to leave his bedroom as they found it.
