My word, the dialogue in Adolescence episode 2 is clunky. I'm really not trying to trivialise the subject, and I get and respect the programme makers honest and well placed intentions, but reviewed simply as entertainment, it does kinda jar. Like some teenage health advice video, you were half expecting Nancy Reagan to pop up and say 'drugs, just say no'.

I heard Nancy's words and I never did drugs. Surely that is not just a coincidence.
Having watched Adolescence, you will most probably not go on to stab any women. This is the power of Great Drama.

I'm tempted by Yellowstone. I watched, and enjoyed, Landman and that's a Taylor Sheridan work as well. Apparently, the 2 share the same political ambiguity - it's not something I'd even thought might appeal to me before but it works.

The only part of the series that I've watched is 1883 since I'd prefer to watch them chronologically.
If you like westerns in the slightest then I recommend it.

Interesting, as a new Nurse is someone Hawkeye was deeply in love with, & lived with, whilst a 'resident' (a SHO, in the UK, under the old names)

I thought, she looked vaguely familiar, even allowing for the passage of time
Blythe Danner

She was in Paul, it was her dog that was killed when the space-ship landed

More to the point, she's Gwyneth Paltrows mum!!

"The Leopard" a six part Netflix historical drama set in and after the unification of Italy. Pretty good albeit with a bit too much "look at this lovely photography and expensive production" but acting and script is pretty good.

I've not seen the Visconti / Burt Lancaster movie (widely regarded as a masterpiece) nor read the book both are based upon.

Anyhow, pretty decent historical drama, whose plot doesn't really go where you might expect

That's encouraging, it's on my watch list but I was worried it might be bloated in the usual 'mini series that would make a decent 2 hour movie' way.

Not an entirely unfair concern, but we are enjoying it anyway, and there is substance as well as style as it were

If it's the Tomasi di Lampedusa book of the same name that it's based on, I didn't get past the first chapter.

just finished the last two episodes which were exceptionally good. Well worth persevering after the slow start. I can give the series a strong recommendation but with the caveat that it might have been better with a bit of a trim

Might have to watch the Visconti film version too

We've been watching "A thousand blows" which is a drama based on a true story from the 1890s. Stephen graham is in it, but most of the cast are very good also. I don't normally like period dramas but this one is ok
