What TV are you watching?

We've taken advantage of the Apple TV offer (£2.99/month for 3 months) to have a look at Apple TV. Started watching Slow Horses and enjoyed the 2 episodes we watched.

From the stuff I watch (which is across a number of streaming platforms) I'd say Apple TV is a good choice. For my tastes, they seem to have a healthy percentage of decent output. I'd say they commission wisely.

Meh. I've caught up with everything I want to watch in a couple of months. I won’t be paying after my free period. Everyone is different.
Slow Horses was excellent though.

They might not be prolific, nor have as much content as others, but they do put good new stuff out. It's not just a matter of catching up. I stick by what I said - Apple TV is a pretty good choice, imho of course.

Binge watched the last 3 episodes of the new Bergerac, quite different from the original.

The Cancellation of Benny Hill

Theres no doubt that some of his sketches are not acceptable today, but from watching the show he was simply delivering what people wanted to watch at the time. And the fact he became immensely popular abroad, especially in the USA, was new to me.

He was a funny man, and had a sense of what was funny and what was not, but I don't think he was a racist or a sexist.

We recently got freebie AppleTV, and my better-half discovered Severance. Wow, interesting concept.
I believe Season3 is in the works currently, so i'm clearly behind the curve.

Finished this and it's an enjoyable enough crime romp, as a power struggle in a seemingly otherwise stable crime gang threatens lives and livelihoods.

Trouble is I'm watching Mobland at the same time (not finished yet) and without comparing budgets or casts directly the story in Mobland is imminently more interesting.

WOTC almost forgets it's about coke dealing and gangs at times, it's not a bad show but I feel the crime angle could almost have been any other business that is being fought over whereas Mobland crime is at the front and centre all the time.

House. Started from season 1 a few weeks ago. It's good to watch when you feel a bit under the weather

I used a clip - asthma inhaler scene - when I taught pharmacists.
Decades earlier a clinician described to me a patient doing something similar, after he had demonstrated use by spraying without putting it in his mouth….

I would have liked to see some history/flash backs to explain how the business was built as I agree he didn't seem the man to do it, but I suppose he just got soft in his old age.

For Michael not Cav though, I thought Robbie from EastEnders🤔

I’ve just watched the Kenny Everett one.
Some of it is very much of its time, and couldn’t be shown today. But it was very basic route one stereotyping.
But most of it was proper cutting edge comedy.
The David Bowie sketch was superb.
It was very much on the cusp of old comedy and alternative comedy.
