I can stand around all day making sarcastic comments, it's my speciality.

In the event of the apocalypse, when it comes to self preservation or that of the 'clan' (ie, us lot in this instance) I have absolutely no scruples whatsoever. Seriously, someone saying 'oh, we can't do that 'cos it isn't ethical' will receive short shrift.

I can make a stove out of clay that can be powered by bio-gas. (And a very peculiar school project that was)

I can make and use natural dyes. I'm a decent shot. I can Kill, gut, skin and cook just about anything. Grow food. Make wines from pretty much anything. Malt grain and make beer (There'll be no-one around to produce kits you see).

I can cook, work with ferrets, make snares, and whittle.

I can fish and I have a basic understanding of animal husbandry. I can paint (Well someone has to do the cave art)

I'm sure there must be more....have I earned my place yet?

Oh, I have a brother who owns a still. I could nick that

This reminds me of my "luxury" in the unlikely event of being on desert island discs.

A useful one is that I can do mental arithmetic. When the power goes off forever and the calculators and phones go off I'll be able to tell you how much you owe me at compound interest in no time.

Well, we seem to be a pretty hardy bunch!

Maybe we ought to arrange a rendezvous location now, and all make our way there in the event of An Event.

I think I feel pretty confident that NT and I could survive in terms of food and drink and shelter and stuff if we were in medieval or stone age conditions, especially in a small community of like minded people. What I fear more in the the breakdown of modern 'civilisation' is the initial period of chaos, when the bullies take over, and use force to get the stuff they need. Chances are they'll only think short term (grab all the supplies in shops and warehouses and protect them with guns), but in the process, they could well do a lot of damage to those of us who just need to get through that time and settle in for the long run.
