My first beer came out of a watering can. Daddy Diggs used to organise a large 5 a side tornament, I was stuck in the committee tent absolutely parched. Beer was brought out to the tent in a watering can and given nothing else was available, Dad poured me some in a small plastic cup. Tasted awful at the time.
By the time I was playing rugby and watering cans were being used in lieu of jugs in my clubhouse, my palate had changed somewhat

Thunderbird, it came in three different colour labels, red blue and yellow. All tasted exactly the same from what I can remember and that was when I was about 15/16 (ish) I bet if i tried it now it would taste like sh#te but not see it around for years.

Time you enjoyed wasting was not wasted
My dad allowed me to have a drink of sherry at a family Christmas party when I was about 10. I didn't realise he only meant me to have the small glass he poured me. I t tasted really nice so I got a tumbler and helped myself a couple of times. The next thing was, I was rolling around all over the place and when told to behave myself I started kicking off like the people you see coming out of nightclubs in those Britcop type TV programmes. Despite liking a pint or six in my adulthood, I've never been one for kicking off in drink, must have been a one-off.

1970, I was 9 and on holiday with my parents in Calella, a big deal back then. I heard them, in the hotel room, talking and worrying about having too much alcohol to take back on the flight. So I decided to help them out.

I can vividly recall looking for my parents and staggering into the bar area near reception where I collided with some stools and fell. I'd drank nearly a whole bottle of Tia Maria and was taken to hospital. Just the smell of that drink, or other sugary liqueurs like Glayva or Cointreau, makes me retch.
