Money (and space) no object I would collect traction engines, tractors, heavy haulage and timber haulage trucks.

I was unreasonably pleased last night to see that a 1973 Atki Borderer has appeared in the yard I deliver stuff to every night. It's parked next to an old ERF, and both these old ladies look rather lost among a fleet of modern high cab tractor units.

Somebody HELP ME

I don't suppose you'd be interested in my 1958 Framus acoustic would you? It's on ebay as we speak ...

... sorry, that's probably not what you meant by "somebody HELP ME".

Thanks for your support RT   Regrettably my collecting mania makes it difficult to part with anything, which extends to money in quantities in excess of £5.....

ten!

I've been after an autoharp for years but have never seen one in a car boot sale... plus I'm ideally after a left hand one but I don't think they exist (unless I make it myself)

Yes, you can get a left handed one but only if you get one of the US luthiers to make you one. Mucho expensivo! Talking about £1000 and upwards. I know one lefty who plays his upside down, works for him. Oscar Schmidt did do one that was a mirror image instrument, but it was built into it's own case see http://elderly.com/n...items/OS30C.htm for details. I've only seen one autoharp at a CBS and it was a crap brown German Rosen job, more hassle than they are worth, my advice is to stick to Oscar Schmidt or one of the established luthier made ones. Ours are all OS including a very rare and desirable G/D Festival model (identical to the one Billy Connolly plays) and a single key of D OS Wildwood Flower. There's a also a tiny children's one that we let visiting kids have a thrash at.

I've converted some of the others to diatonics as I make my own chord bar assemblies. Most came from auctions including Ebay, but whenever we go to the USA I make sure we bring back at least one addition. I do sell the occassional one but I need to sort out four of them before I think about selling. Not car boot prices though! About £200 - £300 for a basic one depending on how good it is, Alison's Festival is virtually priceless.

If you want further info contact me by pm or email gordon at 10db dot co dot uk.

You don't happen to know the M & W catalogue number for the little (but very useful) 3" reversible (inside/outside) slip joints they used to make, (the ones that could walk easier than ball-point pens)?

I have spent years looking round car boots looking for old musical instruments. I have amassed quite a collection, no brass as of yet though.

I have gained control of this compulsion though over the last year or so. I think its because I don't play much anymore and my OCD has been channeled into fitness and cycling. If I ever see a Double Bass however...

I'll pm you HF. Cant say I'm familiar with those but I know a man who might be, who is a mine of info. At boot fairs round here, it being a centre of industry in the past, M and W stuff features almost every week! Everbody seems to have a grandfather whose tools are still somewhere "in the back of the shed " And all for about £1 each!! I' sure you have already seen the current catalogue http://www.moore-and-wright.com/downloads/catalogues
