As a kid the best was my Raleigh Wayfarer, a standard issue 3 speed upright piece of cast iron. However, I invented the 69er concept, the 46'er, by fitting a Chopper rear wheel when I got a puncture. I for the gears working nicely. The handlebars were replaced with some motorbike MX bars, worryingly using electrical tape as a shim so it would fit the stem. Awesome off road.
My best modern bike is my Felt F85. Nothing exciting in the grand scheme, but it fits me like I'd been in the womb with it. Nothing is more important than fit, not weight, not posh badges and bling finishing kit, nothing. Zilch. Nowt. Nada. So to have a bike that fits me almost organically is a delight. Ive not ridden a more enjoyable road bike at any price, ever.
