As a kid the best was my Raleigh Wayfarer, a standard issue 3 speed upright piece of cast iron. However, I invented the 69er concept, the 46'er, by fitting a Chopper rear wheel when I got a puncture. I for the gears working nicely. The handlebars were replaced with some motorbike MX bars, worryingly using electrical tape as a shim so it would fit the stem. Awesome off road.

My best modern bike is my Felt F85. Nothing exciting in the grand scheme, but it fits me like I'd been in the womb with it. Nothing is more important than fit, not weight, not posh badges and bling finishing kit, nothing. Zilch. Nowt. Nada. So to have a bike that fits me almost organically is a delight. Ive not ridden a more enjoyable road bike at any price, ever.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and claim my Ribble bitsa. It's not the best bike, but it is my favourite bike.
Sora front brake, Tektro rear, 36T chainring, 12-32T seven speed cassette, MA3 wheels, flat bars, Ribble winter frame and carbon forks.

In my youth, my Raleigh Discovery. Had many happy years with that, bike rides with my mates, my now wife, loved it to bits. My first brand new bike at the time. Stolen on the last holiday I went on with my parents, France 1992 I believe.

Currently? Define best bike. For all round usefulness it has to be the Boardman CX Team which gets used for shopping, commuting, family rides and general knocking about. Horses for courses and all that

My Raleigh Firefly is my best/favourite bike. Sure it's just a lump of scrap to most but its perfect for me. It's the right size, It's basic and it does the job. I've had Claud Butlers, Carreras, Saracens, Konas etc but I always choose my Raleigh over any of my other bikes.

My best and most favourite bike is, without doubt, my current one. It's only a Decathlon Rockrider full sus bike which I bought new about 12 years ago. Not a high spec model, but Decathlon usually give you decent spec for the money.

When I first got it I used to do stupid things like riding down flights of steps, or going out to the country park and "playing" on the tracks in the woods. It made me feel like a kid again, even though I was in my mid 40's.

Now I have calmed down a bit, fearing that old bones wont mend so easily, but I still love to get out and ride, either on the local minor roads, or preferably off road on byways and cycle paths.

Surly Long Haul Trucker. Such a great do it all bike, and the first bike I specced and built myself.

The best bike I have ever owned was a 1989 Peugeot Avaris road bike I bought second hand in 1991. It was such a contrast to any previous bike I had owned and a joy to ride.

Kept is for a good few years till work got in the way and it sat at home gathering dust so I sold it on. Wish I still had it though!

You were lucky, I had the same bike, but only a single speed version  until I refurbished it, a rather poor black spray job & 5 speed gears, thought it was the dogs, but I very much doubt that it was. Sure I've got an old pic somewhere, I'll have to dig it out
Think my current steed, the Van Nic Ventus is probably the best bike I've ever had, use it for everything, except touring & I would if I could :okay:
