The Zodiac, Oxford, for a performance by RAM, a voodoo rock band from Haiti. They totally rocked the house.

Live Aid 1985

Simply can't put it into words. Best day of my life - and that includes the birth of my children. Best act there? Queen o'course. And I'm no Queen fan.

After that

Jesus and Mary Chain about '86

Boomtown Rats at Finsbury Park. Although the girl I went with worked for a record company and said she had been offered invites to the after show party, but she had been to ones before and didn't want to go to this one.

The Flaiming Lips @ ULU in around '96.

I was a technician on stage. There was a mad Japanese groupie running round backstage taking pictures of everything with a polaroid. The drummer was totally mental - taking huge pulls on a bottle of Jack Daniels between tracks and at one point he broke one of his sticks and the end whizzed past inches from my head. It was all so very rock n roll.

Many,

Air -The Academy Brum
Roger Waters - NEC
Half Man Half Biscuit - Leics Uni (1986)

I even had a good time at a gig by Britains Favorite Paedo - in the days before we knew, obviously.

Prince (Lovesexy Tour) @ Wembley.
Steve Hackett @ Hatfield Forum.
Oasis(bear with me) @ The Venue, New Cross. (They had just released 'Supersonic' and were fresh, v. loud, brash and had yet to go and spoil it all by turning out the same trick, album after album and opening their gobs, etc.)
Scarfo & Placebo @ Brixton Academy. We were all part of the same music scene in South London during the early 90's. This gig was a homecoming show for both bands after a European tour.
Scarfo later split with singer/guitarist Jamie now in The Kills and going out with some skinny bird from Croydon.

Iron Maiden Donnington 1988 absolutely fantastic.

Helloween at the Hummingbird a couple of weeks later brilliant Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 and 2 back to back, Kai Hansen even played Follow the Sign.

Wolfsbane at some little tiny place in Milton Keynes blew the place apart.

Metallica at the Milton Keynes Bowl mesmerising, just past dusk when the Ecstasy of Gold started up, Hetfield swaggering up to the mic with his Gibson Explorer slung low is burnt onto my retina without doubt the best gig ever.
