#1 bike is shiny unpainted metal stuff made with the letters Ti and of which is lovely and I love it so.
#2 bike is shiny painted black dust stuff made of the letter C and of which is lovely and I love it so but since #1 turned up has been feeling a little neglected.
#3 bike is shiny painted metal stuff made with the letters Cr, Ni & Fe which is lovely and helps me get to work and back every day. We have been through a lot together and I love it so

Bike number one is a comfy singlespeed that does most things I want. Number two is in the shed without cables or a front wheel. N plus one is a gorgeous, lightweight creature of steel that'll fly up hills and eat up the miles. I plan to buy it sometime this year!

Bike #3 use when not using the others, particularly when going to the pub

Bike no. 1 is summer, light and carbon. Bike no. 2 is winter and wet, mudguards, disc brakes and alu. Bike no. 2 is also a bit heavier.

I find I can go faster for further on bike no. 1, it is smoother and more comfy, but being plastic melts if it gets wet.

Those thoughts echoed here...1 (nice) bike for summer, 1 (heavier, less doted) bike for winter and trips to shops, etc we're some sorts may try their luck:gun:, and of course 1 other bike for off-road excursions!:becool:

1->(2,3) : Mudguards, ~ 2kg
2->3: Gears, disc brakes, fat tyres
4: carbon + leather, 8 110mm wheels, actually not a bike at all

(1 is a partly-carbon Giant TCR for countryside and summer months only, 2 is a cheapish fixie commuter/pub bike, 3 is a steel CX bike mostly for commuting when I'm feeling too lazy for 78" and have secure parking at the destination)

#1 bike is a couple of kilos lighter and made of carbon. It handles sharper and the lighter wheels climb better. Over a distance I have less fatigue on it and more comfort. I want to ride it all the time :biggrin:

A slightly smaller frame, 54mm rather than 58mm. No different vis a vis the geometry from saddle to pedals or to the bars so it should be the same, but it isn't. The bars are about 50mm narrower and fall more easily on my hands. The best bit of all is that the brake hoods are angled slightly inwards rather than straight ahead. It really made a huge difference to me.

Thank you Cinelli and Campagnolo

I found yesterday, having to take the No.2 because the No.1 was awaiting new tyres to be delivered, that having a heavier ali framed, flat-bar, front suspension forked hybrid type thing makes your work harder in getting it to go as fast as your No 1...and when you fail to do that you look back at the opportunity to just 'take it easier and enjoy the ride' that you promised yourself and curse a bit...:rolleyes:

Bike 1 is a Spesh Tarmac, Carbon with 105 used to be my commuter and fun bike when I rode 120 - 180 miles a week and is now my fun weekend/afterwork ride.
Bike 2 is a cheap as hell Steel Schwinn single speed that weighs a ton that I ride (uphill) to work now and that also gets used when I go to town etc, I spin it out on the flats and the hill into work is fun.
