Vaseline is best for the creases and stays on longer although gets a bit whiffy at the end!!!

Assos chamois creme  Damn fine stuff. I used it for the first time on the Dun run and boy is it good.

I am tempted to try it ...but is it addictive......and secondly is it legal ?

And do you have to go cycling with it on......I was thinking of pedestrian work/going to the cinema etc??? ?

first time i went on a club run, i needed some sudocrem after. next time i put it on before hand.

never bothered since, and the last time i needed any sort of cream was last sunday, but only because of the edge of the pad in the shorts chafing my arse cheek. i've no doubt that the fact that i was soaked to the skin riding over 100 miles made the difference. so savlon it was.

Having been plagued by saddle sores for quite a few years I decided to give 'bum cream' a go earlier this year after recovering from my latest bout of pain. I have never had any problem with saddle sores since :becool: Put it on everytime I go out. But I seldom go out for less than 20 miles, so not sure if I would bother if just popping out for a few miles...

Well, I never used to use it BUT  now i've got to use it, no matter what distance - strangely, if I shoot down the shops in jeans or such like no problems

I used to use Sudocrem cept now I use Asda Baby cream 99p sorted...and I'm due some SOO i'll be getting the big one this time around :becool:

Assos for me, for anything more than 20 miles or so. I simply use it as a preventative more than anything as I'd rather not find out the hard way.

It's not a matter of distance for me but heat of the day.

'Bum cream' does nothing, ime, for numb bum but it does prevent sweat rashes, etc. So if it's 20+c outside AND it's a 100km or more ride then I'll apply a good dollop of sudocrem. In cooler weather, I'll not bother with anything regardless of mileage. If my skin is looking red and angry, or feeling saw, after a ride then I use conotrane. If it's not clearing up then I use daktarin.

I haven't used Assos cream though, or that udderly stuff. Maybe that does do something to delay the onset of numb bum... but I'd very much doubt it.

Read your headline carefully, it contains a double negative. So, taking your question at the double negative; the answer is 1cm.

As I said further up the thread, I've never had saddle sore before now, so to those who say "I'll never need it, never have, never will" how do you know?
I used Udderly Smooth on my Wirral ---> Grasmere ride yesterday and I don't have the slightest bit of saddle sore, just like I used to be a few months ago before I lost some weight. So I'm a bum cream convert
