Surprised myself, can someone fact check my calculations ?
Just drive to Caister, Norfolk, around 105 miles.
Petrol was £1.49 litre
Fuel consumption showed 56 mpg (2.0 Mazda 3)
1.49 litre x 4.546 = £6.77 gallon
105 ÷ 56 mpg = 1.87 gallon
1.87 × £6.77 = £12.65 for the 105 miles.

If thats correct, thats really good imo

I know why, the A47 is heavily speed restricted, a mix of mostly 40 and 50 mph limits and a generally 60 mph when no restrictions.
Time wise...it all flowed, despite it being BH weekend, no holdups, just kept rolling all the time at the appropriate speeds, didnt take too long despite the restrictions.

At what point will the Diesel the aftershave be cheaper per litre than Diesel the fuel.

Had to go a few junction up the dual carriageways/moorway today

seemed to me that the average speed was lower than normal

anyone else noticed that

It's only one journey or two but yes, I noticednit last time.and this time already, plenty of folk doing less than the prescribed limit, perhaps only by a few MPH, but slower all the same.
I particually note far fewer people actually going fast, 70mph let alone any more.

Strange goings on.... Locally, 187.9/189.9
Topped up with diesel on the A14 main dual carriageway.. 189.9. Normally it's 10p dearer. Same price now 🤷‍♂️

I think our station usually / only changes the litre price when they get a new delivery in.
Perhaps they will as a new tanker arrives

There is now a real concern that the Houthi's will blockade the Bab Al-Mendab Strait in support of Iran, as it is thought that crude oil could get to $200 a barrel, then god knows what a litre of petrol or diesel will cost

Wouldn't normally be that bothered about fuel but we've two trips coming up. One about 220 mile return, the other about 700. Just hope to be able to get fuel.

I believe the price of a litre of petrol was around 89p when the tanker drivers protest took place in 2001. According to the Bank of England inflation calculator that equates to £1.69 today, so we ain't done too bad (So far, anyway).
