I saw a young lad called Sean Shibe play guitar in a performance of Joaquim Rodrigo's Concerto de Aranjuez by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra last Friday which was far more moving than any rock guitarist I have ever heard live or on record. If you had asked me a year ago I would probably picked something by Jimi Hendrix or Pete Townsend.

Not sure about setting up the link but how about this....

BTW - the first 12 seconds are silent - do not adjust your set

The Outlaws - Green Grass and High Tides

Robin Trower - Too Rolling Stoned

If you can get past the recent politics and remember him in the 70's....

Ted Nugent - Stranglehold

Excellent thread, some brilliant solos.
may be bringing the tone down a little, but I have always loved the solo from The Carpenters 'Goodbye to Love'. I think because it's so unexpected in a Carpenters track. In a similar vein I also love the solo from Baker street, The Sax solo doesn't do much for me though.

Am listening to UFO's Strangers In The Night live album with one Michael Schenker on guitar.

Yegods he could play a mean solo...

Big fan of Setzer and similar here, but I also love this Van M track guitar work from 1.57 to 3.30. I think the guitarist has about 8 fingers on each hand.

Anything by Stevie ray Vaughan, the guy was just such a natural, Clapton once commented that he though he was probably one of the best Guitarists there was, each to thire own of course.
I particularly like this live version of The sky is crying -
