Mine goes way back to 2005 (pre-C+ forum rush ... lol) and I must have been thinking it would draw people in, because right off the bat I went for a helmet debate thread ...:

http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/helmets-should-you-wear-one.2/

He he ... took six months before it got a reply ...
That was slow progress Shaun - you must be proud of what you've achieved....

...and I'm not referring to endless, circular helmet debates!^_^

took a bit to find it. failed on the hi I'm new here and jumped straight in on advice to someone asking if it was possible to tour on a mtb (specialised rockhopper 2010 model) and if you can fit racks to them....
my first post - you will all be very glad to know this responce is a lot shorter!
I've read the first 3 chapters Emma but I'll save the rest for later.
And don't spoil the ending for me, anyone.

One of my very earliest posts was this: (on September 21st 2007). It is my first post according the search, so perhaps I was lurking  for a month or two after joining in July 2007.

from thread http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/i-say-are-there-any-women-here.2628/

No, you are not a load of boring old *****. The threads often get fascinating. There seems to be other females owning up to their user names. Perhaps I have lurked long enough. I often think my replies would not be witty enough, or when I do think of something, someone gets there first.

Some forum have "girly"/female chat rooms. IMHO that would be not very interesting. (she says diplomatically).

I enjoy some of the "so-called" more masculine activities. The highlight of my last holiday was going on a freighter, a warship and most of all into a submarine. I was very miffed on the same holiday, when just because there was a strong wind blowing and it was a little bit chilly:wacko:, ok very cold indeed, it was assumed that as a female I did not really want to be on the top deck of a 1910 Motor Ship. May I make my own decisions on that?

That's probably enough waffle for now. I will try and join in more often.

My first post appears to be April 2012!

Unless you're training yourself for something I'd say use whichever gear feels good, simple as that!

My first post was just this past August:

Hi, I am a new here, I am from central North Carolina, born and raised. I am in my early 50s...will be 55 in a couple of months so I still get to use the early 50's until then. I have been into bicycling about a year but I took this past winter off, I will not be doing that again, because of all the pain involved in getting back into any sort of riding shape. I am hoping someday to get a chance to visit and cycle in the UK. I have already found some great information on touring at your site and enjoy the reading.
