What's your first ever post on CC?

This is my first post back in 24th April 2008:

Hi all,

I have been lurking for a while and finally decided to join your forum.

My main areas of interest are with recumbents (I think so but haven't really had much experience of them) and I am considering load carriers as well. I don't do much cycling at the moment due to the long distances for work, but I do have a Marin Hawkhill which gets used for circular trips until I get some better security sorted out or for return trips from dropping the car off for servicing.

I am currently studying an MSc in Architecture, Environment and Energy at the Centre for Alternative Technology and I am thinking of including a cycling element in my thesis proposal so I hope you don't mind me asking for some advice on here about that for my research. I will say when it is for research reasons.

I used to do a lot of cycling in the past but then I got a driving licence and have struggled to get back into it for the last 25 years! However at that time I was designing and building my own bikes for fun and just to be different. Also I never considered the Raleigh Chopper to be sufficiently 'Chopper' like so I made my own with long forks, low seat and feet forwards pedalling, semi recumbent style. Much more fun.

I am still designing and making now but now it is mainly furniture and the occasional trailer.

Yes, later in the thread with my first post in it, I had an encounter with @Noodles. He nearly put me off making any further posts.

Trawled back through the search engine and this is my first post in a thread called 'Great Ride To Work Today'

I have had a good few weeks of commuting the weather has finally broken an the traffic is so lite, except for Shandwick Place!

OT I joined C+ about 10 months ago and really enjoyed it, I'm not sure about Bikeradar its so large but I thought I'd give it a chance to settle down. I found myself looking at this site tonight however and it looks a lot easier to navigate.

Best of luck Urban rider, it will get easier as time goes by just keep working at it. I gave up in 1977, I was having colds and bad chests constantly, had a particularly bad bout of flue and didn’t smoke for a week, when I felt better and wanted a fag I thought I might as well stop permanently, so I put my baccy tin, with the rollers and papers in it, on the mantel piece and left it there and haven’t smoked since, I have still got the tin in a cupboard somewhere, it was difficult at first but eventually got easier. Its funny even now once in a while I still get the mild urge for a fag, usually if I am having bad time of it, its most strange I would have thought that would have stopped totally by now.

Here's my first post that was not related to the C+ exodus, dating from 8 July 2007:

I thought he hit a spectator then had a puncture. He's no Robbie McEwen and his team decided to try to get Eisel into the mix. Eisel said before the race the team were concentrating on getting Cavendish up there, so I don't think he can have too many grumbles (other than with the spectator)
