Depending on shift up from anywhere between 4.30am and 11am, potter down and brush my teeth. Play Temple Run for a few minutes whilst my eyes wake up and then put on my bike kit, pack my clothes and lunch for the day and set off.

Normally leave for work 1 hour before start time despite only being a 15 min (5mile) commute, park up, get showered and dressed and at my desk with 30-40 minutes before due to start.

The morning schedule starts in the evening when I lay my kit out for the next morning. Also have the breakfast making stuff ready so the morning is smoother and also quieter. Alarm at 05:00, make brekkie and get dressed while it cooks. Just before I'm ready to leave, quick run upstairs to give my Wife a kiss then out the door for about 06:00. Get to work when I arrive (flex hours are great) usually around 8 ish, cup of tea and off we go !

Bit of advice for everyone that gets dressed and makes tea as the computer boots (including my work one). Make sure you don't upgrade to Windows 8.1 and a fancy machine, they boot in about 10 seconds.....
Believe me, there are many many far stronger reasons than that for not upgrading to Windows 8....

Alarm goes off at 6.40am, get up around 7am, make tea, stick my head out of the window and watch a bit of tv while deciding whether to cycle in our take the car, get the kid up, blend her a fruit smoothie for breakfast and sometimes one for myself too, do makeup and hair, make an espresso, remind kid constantly of what she's meant to be doing, get dressed (cycling gear if cycling, and pack work outfit into bike bag), get lunch packed (usually something I've prepped at the start of the week), let cat in, feed cat, send kid to school, grab iPod, phone and any French books I need to take with me and head off. 20 mins in car, same on bike, but away to change jobs in a couple of weeks so I'll have a range of new cycle routes to try!

Up at 4am, leave by 4:40, at work by 5:45, in office by 6:30, when I normally have a coffee and muesli for breakfast.
At the other end of the day, it's normally: finish at 16:30, home by 18:25, in bed by 20:00.
In other words, I have no free time on weekdays! Not that I'm complaining: my current job position in software development is interesting enough, and I enjoy the 14 hours a week of commuting by bicycle.

You could make your life a bit easier. Make lunches the night before, same for homework, and ban electronic devices in mornings. Giving the kids a list to follow sometimes works too.

In between here and there
Phew I always thought I was a bit weird with my having to visit the bathroom first thing in the morning, every morning, looks like I have a few comrades here! I envy people who go on demand.

Anyway I digress, 4.50am alarm goes, downstairs make my tea and then back upstairs normally in a "rush (see above) I peruse the news on the tablet whilst (see above) for at least 15 minutes then a quick shower, clean teeth, second cup of tea decide what kit to wear with the assistance of the 5.58am BBC TV weather and out the door at 6.10am to arrive at work 15 miles later between 7 and 7.10am. Get changed hang cycling clothes up in the Dri buddy drink most of water bottle, go and get my large skinny Costa coffee, two slices of toast one Manuka Honey the other Peanut Butter upload Garmin.

Most of this morning routine is avoidance of Kids not because I don't like them but with one bathroom and three daughters and wife it takes timing for them to all get out of the door at the times they need, starting with my eldest who is up at 6am and out by 6.30am doing a paper round then straight off to college, thus the bathroom facility is more or less booked from 6am onwards. I genuinely used to wonder why people used to consider two bathrooms a needed luxury.....

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I dream of a second bathroom . . . and I have boys! One off to uni in September though so that should ease the congestion a bit!
I am looking at a second toilet downstairs as we have a long kitchen and a manhole in the front garden where you could run a pipe too but it would be a couple of years before we can look into it.
