Purely out of curiosity (Okay I want to be nosey all right:tongue:) Just wondering what other cycle commuters mornings are like, mine is the following

Up at 6.50 am (set the alarm for 6.20 to get up at 6.30 but somehow never happens) to leave house between 7.20 and 7.30 am for a leisurely 7 mile commute to arrive at work 8.00-ish to be changed and at my 'desk' by 8.30.....
If I go by car (at most once a week) I can leave my house at 7.50am but the extra half hour in the house seems to be bedlam......

Just wondered what 'stupid o'clock times' other people had to get up and leave by to be at work by starting time....

(If you work shifts I'm still interested................... If on say 2pm to 10pm etc do you do a fab long commute just for the hell of it)

Up about 7 (wake up light type alarm, so the light is on at 6:30. Find out I've not made the kids sandwiches, so start them and mine. Boil kettle, go change cat litter and get the bike out of the garage. If things run to plan, out the house about 7:40 for the long 14 mile route to work.

Just now I get up at 7:30am, shower, shave, dress in work clothes (trowsers/ short slieve shirt), have breakfast and check the tablet (emails/ faceboke) and cycle 4.2 miles to work and arrive for 8:25-8:45ish. I have been known to lie in to 8am (take the short 1.6mile route) or get up earlier and take a longer route (33miles has been the most for me).

Up at 4:45 - 5am, about an hour faffing around, only 45 minutes if bike completely sorted/loaded the night before.
No alarm clock for me so currently running a little late as I am still on GMT, should be fully BST by the weekend.

Until recently:
Alarm goes off at 5:38, up by 5:43 (OCD, me?).
Out of the house before what looks like 6:15 (but that clock is 5 minutes fast), bike out of the shed, back gates opened and then one shut and locked.
The train station is now 12 minutes away if I ride as fast as I can. So I do.
Arrive at the station with minutes to spare, and run for the train.
Breakfast on the train.
Get off at the next station at 07:11, and ride to work, arriving by 07:15. Switch computer on, log-in, make tea, change, come back and wait for the computer to finish logging in.

I could have got up earlier, but that would have resulted in:
1) Getting up earlier
2) Riding more gently on the way in, and not getting as much exercise, improvement in fitness, or improvements on Strava segments.

Up at half 6, get ready, feed family, do any jobs which need doing (laundry on washing line for example) then out of the house around 8 to cycle 12 and a bit miles and get to work before 9. The routine is no different if I drive or take the train as they both take about the same time, possibly more time by car when there is a bit of traffic.
