Wheel upgrade for single speed mtb.

I recently bought a single speed mtb. I am happy with the set up apart from the wheels which are not great. I am perplexed by the amount of conversion kits for wheels as clearly I need threaded axles now. Also just to make it more interesting the wheel size is 27.5". Can I convert any wheel set to threaded axles?

Why do you need a threaded axle ?

Single speed and vertical drop outs should be fine with a quick release, but you may need a tensioner or half link. You could also try a magic gear.
