Feeling a bit wierd today...

A QS friend who I've known for over 34 years died on Saturday, it wasn't time for him to go.

We're a small team, QSs, engineers, builders and architects who have designed and built overt 1500 social rent houses, flats and bungalows for the same Housing association over the last 34 years. Everyone has relied on each other's knowledge, abilities, good humour and common sense... and now he isn't on the end of the phone to check stuff with, he isn't in his office to call in to have a catch-up over a coffee.

We're all in the same age range, + we all know each other well enough to know what we'll all do in any situation. It's like having a table lose one of it's legs... our working lives won't be the same from today!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Sorry to hear this awful news. My condolences.

Nothing more I can add except offer my condolences. Always difficult when we lose a freind, especially if he's the same age as you and it's before his time. I'm not sure if this is true, but someone pointed out to me once that it reminded us of our own mortality but I prefer to think of it as a reminder that this isn't a dress rehearsal.
