I hope you were both wearing helmets

Seriously though, it sounds like the friends are members of the Boring Old Fart Brigade & think you both should have been looking at houses for sale in Eastbourne instead!

30 years ago I was sitting in pubs drinking and smoking, since 47 (now 54 ) I took up jogging and cycling I haven't looked back. So no, you're not too old to start something active and see an improvement in both ability and fitness.

Try telling my Dad that!

Fell off my bike last year and found out I'm too old to bounce anymore (my ribs hurt for a month).

Its been quite a number of years since I found out I don't bounce as well as I used to, it just makes me a little more careful, well most of the time it does.

Bouncing worries you:blink:.SERIOUSLY.Me being 15,i couldn't care less about bouncing even when i turn 50.(i guess i won't have to worry about that cause i'm thinking about joining the navy and uuuuu.....use your imagination,i can't tell you everything)

There is a DJ on Radio Solent who walks across Southampton Common to host the early show.

He talked about getting old and mature as a change in thought process:

When you see a group of scantily clad young ladies wending their way home from a night out, you no longer think "Phwoar!", but "They must be cold"

I had to give up rugby in my late forties after I was getting injured every time I played and took over a week to get better.

Now it hurts more when I fall off my mountain bike, so I have to go slower. Another problem is eyesight, mid range focus going and also have to take reading glasses with me if I have to fix anything as without them everything is a blur!!!

Not good!!!

This is good - It means I'm not that old then!

It's the lack of bouncing any more they are worried about. Seemingly the older you get the more brittler you become.

Why would anybody care for "not bouncing" bouncing makes you feel like you fell twice or thirce(me not fallen from cycle for two months now:whistle:)

At nearly 52 I'm fortunate enough to still enjoy good health and fitness. One day I'll realise I'm not 18 anymore, but until that day arrives I'm making the most of it because you never know what's round the corner.

Life ain't no dress rehearsal baby.
