The train ride is 35 miles each way. I cycle the 7 miles from home to the station and the 4 miles from the destination station to work. I do this most days. To add a further 70 miles to that is beyond my current level of fitness. I am rapidly becoming an old wuss! The OP's problem was he wasn't on his bike. Taking public transport like the rest of the losers !!!![]()
Can't be any worse than East London.....can it!?You've not been to Orpington have you.
I probably should've said, this wasn't a supermarket checkout. My staff member was trying to get information from the customer to best serve him. He's there to do a job but not when the customer makes it impossible by ignoring important questions to carry on a phone call and in the process slows things down for everyone on a busy Saturday afternoon.so one rude basssstard is wrong but the other rude bassstard is right...people on tills are there to do a job irrespective if you are on the phone, reading a book, talking to someone else, scratching your balls...now don't get me wrong I'm a chatter and enjoy a bit of banter with till operatives, most repond well some don't, who gives a shiiite..
back to the question at hand, again who gives a shiiite what others are up do, I've too much going on in my life to care what the feck some nobber is doing on their phone or have feet on a seat and if people are walking too slowly then I have this neat little trick of walking faster and around them, works well for me, I've even been known to say excuse me to get pass someone...

Done that, to someone who was more concerned with talking to the person on the other end of the call than actually paying for what she was buying. 10 minutes is too long when there's a queue of people behind you, who actually want to pay.Back when I worked in retail I had a staff member who was efficient, enthusiastic, helpful and patient. My best employee. He was trying to serve a guy who was holding a conversation on his mobile at the same time. My staff member got so annoyed that he told the customer that he'd be happy to help him but not until he'd finished his call and served someone else!
Recognising and accepting you have a problem is part way to resolving itI am rapidly becoming an old wuss!
I don't think it's the use of mobiles as such that the OP is objecting to, so much as the way they seem to lend themselves to a total self-centred oblivion to the needs and perspectives of others. Its interesting to see everyone's point of view in this thread. I am of the mobile phone generation and admit I would be lost without my smartphone however my main gripe is at lunchbreaks at work. Everyone sits in silence tapping away, the art of conversation is lost and I do find it rude when were all sat together.
It always amazes me when out for a meal how many couples and groups of friends sit in silence tapping away on their phones or kids are allowed to play on games consoles whilst their eating at the family meal out.
Sent from my Galaxy S4, which I love and has been in my hand for an hour and would cry if I had to give up................
