Do you lurk around just like me? I would love to contribute more to threads but don't for various reasons.
I soak up the cycle know how stuff and light hearted threads are a bit easier to pop in your 5 pence worth, but in most others, although I think I may have something to say, I just don't seem to find it easy to jump in and say it. Am I in the minority here? Are you :shy: or  about posting?

Most of us were a bit shy and timid at the beginning: now I just post any old drivel!

You'll soon get the hang of it.

I spent a few month lurking, but then thought sod it.

If no one started new topics or added a reply the board would dry up pretty quick. The only thing keeping it alive is new people posting.

So it's in everyone's best interest to keep new posts coming!!

GetAGrip, just remember anything you say will be used as evidence! As long as you enjoy it CC is a break from your day job... and should be a laugh!

I tend to type something, then think again and delete it without posting. Sometimes I feel better for it anyway.
THATS ME!!!
It seems to be opinions I want to put forward that I have a problem with. I'm told that's not a problem I have in the real world though .
I love the banter you regs have going on by the way

We've had record posting levels for January 2012 so it doesn't appear to be a common problem.

Funnily enough though, because we have such a broad church of people on CC with a really wide range of interests - there's usually someone out there who will appreciate your post, even if they don't reply.

So ... don't hold back, get stuck in - you've got nothing to lose. :bravo:

I lurk alot mroe then post. Unless it is something i sadly do not agree with which happens alot here and a few have tried to jump on me. But for the hell of it i certainly will not back down never. Some my mistakes and some were others! Post what you like aslong as it is something like a troll would do.

I post a fair bit (tho' lurk more) but one thing I try to avoid is getting involved in arguments on contentious issues. People get very heated sometimes, and not to any good effect that I can see. You very seldom see any evidence of changing minds - 99% of it's huff & puff signifying nothing. I sometimes say what I think, but then I leave it at that. If others disagree, fine. That's their prerogative.

Speak out! What have you got to lose? Even if you post total BS, who's going to notice when the place is knee-deep in it all the time?

I noticed that nearly all of my recent posts have been on the "Three Word Game". As I have a fairly old bike which I maintain myself I can contribute on fixing old stuff (1980's) but modern mechs pass me by. Hopefully this year I'll be upgrading to something from this century and learn how to keep that running. If and when I do I might be able to post on that.

Nothing wrong with lurking, GetAGrip; post if you want to but not if you don't.

About the only rule I have is that you can pretty much be as rude, opinionated and ill-informed as you want in Current Affairs and Debates, but not anywhere else. CAD is a pub shouting corner for people with too much time on their hands and it's generally the same couple of dozen people saying the same as they always say - lots of heat and very little light. Some of them never come out of CAD, but when they do you have to treat them differently. I wouldn't knowingly offend someone in Cafe or Know How, for instance, just because their inner six year old had sworn at my inner six year old over in the pub shouting corner.
