When to put on new tyres?

I've a new Ribble Stealth, it's got rubbish tyres (my mistake), I've got myself a couple of Scwhalbe Ultremo's ZX's (57 euro all in off bike-discount.de which I thought was great), I was thinking I'd hardly feel the benefit of the tyres at this time of year?? Maybe I'm well off the mark but I was thinking of leaving them to May time before putting them on?

depends on:

road surfaces
type of riding - e.g. training, racing, weekend warrior etc
how much cash you have

I tend to save my best tyres (Michelin Pro3) until April/May and then swap them back end of September, but I don't do any racing and have little spare cash for new tyres.

If I had more money I'd ride my best tyres all year round!

You won't get the benefit of the better tyres until you put them on the bike.
