When you make a mistake

I messed up this morning on my commute into town and got "honked at". I'll hold my hands up - it was a lack of concentration on my part and totally my fault and I deserved what I got.

Having realised it was my mistake (and feeeling like a complete idiot) I held my hand up to the driver at the time and then turned round and apologised when we both stopped and at the next set of traffic lights. To his credit he was OK about it.

What do you do in that situation?

Exactly the same as you SD. In reverse, if a driver mucks up but puts his hands up...apology accepted by me.

Same as you, I reckon.

No one is a perfect riders or driver all of the time. I acknowledge my mistakes and other peoples kindness with a wave, if safe to do so.

What everyone else said. Nothing worse than someone who makes a mistake but refuses to admit it.

I didn't really need the driver to abuse me (which he didn't) - I was telling myself off for the rest of the commute anyway! No doubt I'll be extra careful for the next few rides until I realise it was just a lapse in concentation and we all have them! Was a shame - I'd been enjoying the ride in up until then. Had even extended the route a little to enjoy the lovely spring morning!

Yep same thing I try to do. Every now and then I will misjudge the traffic lights and where I can slot into the queue and end up having to nip in front of someone which will delay them a little bit. Most people do not care and some probably do not even notice but I try and say thanks or sorry where I can.

Swear at the driver and tell them to get off the bloody road. Oh wait that is taxi drivers. I hold my hand up and sat sorry!
