... and pardon my iggorance but for what is the goosefat ? !

Was working on the Caledonian, just SW of Inverness. Canal was wholly frozen by the sports centre / Jacobite Cruises, but where we were there was enough flow to keep it clear.

I was being facetious with regard to the goose fat, the cross channel swimmers don't even use that now. I used thermals, floatation suit, some layers in between, and let someone else do the dive. Got the boat back afloat and it was getting craned out when we left.

The regs didn't freeze, and the health and safety provedures were dead good (I have to say that, I wrote them).

Driving back over Drumochter I had ice forming on the inside of the van door windows despite having had the heater on full blow from Inverness.

Got back home to find our water supply has frozen, so I'm having to drink whisky. Every cloud and all that...
