Where do you buy your merino baselayers?

I picked up some merino baselayers during the Aldi cycle sale, and I have been really impressed with how warm they keep me (and how they don't stink like polyester baselayers after one 10 mile ride!).

That said, my pants are shredded where they make contact with my padded shorts and the top is starting look like swiss cheese too. Where can I pick up some reasonable merino, will they all tear like the aldi stuff, or was that just particularly cheap stuff?

I notice that cycling specific gear tends to be more expensive, while I know 100% wool clothing will never been as cheap as polyester, just wondering where you buy yours if you are on a sensible budget.

I buy icebreaker brand from New Zealand, get it in outdoor shops like Ellis Brigham as it's aimed at skiers. (I ski.) Not cheap but lasts and lasts.

SportPursuit, when they have the Janus or Birk ones in,

Mountain Warehouse when I need one quickly and especially if they have the BOGOF offer on.

The Planet X/On One ones are ok, to a point. They don't like being washed and are not as thick as any of the other makes.

I also like Embers stuff, but that is a bit more spendy.

I have seen today that Stolen Goat are doing a Molteni-a-like SS jersey (same colour and bands, but no text) for ~£60! That's next on my list, proper ones (if you can find anyone with stock) is ~£160!!!

Patagonia, I have one I have used day in and out for 3 or so years.

+1 for Icebreaker, had one for the past year as I though the Patagonia would need retiring. Has handy thumb holes too.

I have a few Planet-X ones. The short sleeved ones are thicker and more resiliant than the long sleeve ones which slowly gain holes. Try not to catch them with velcro, and don't wash them with anything that has pronounced buttons/zips as I think that was what was putting holes in mine.

Tend to use the short sleeve Planet-X merino jersey with Endura Baa-Baa arm warmers by preference.
