Clarification: yes, it's a soup, not a place.

... but it sounds like it should be a small town in Oirland or Scotchland.

Is there a settlement with a similar arrangement of letters in the British Isles?

I've been to Trincomalee, but never to Mulligatawny.

When I first met Moon Bunny of this forum, she told me, with a completely dead-pan face, that she was originally from the small village of Colcannon, in County Tyrone. I believed her until I tried to find it on a map.

Did you also tell your her mobile number was 0745 752 before subtly moving away cos I have a theory….

Mulligatawny Soup was invented by Spike Milligan in the 1950's, as a quick lunch whilst recording episodes of The Goon Show, it was initially called Milligantawny, but the posh BBC producer with a lisp kept pronouncing it wrong, until the name Mulligatawny eventually stuck due to Peter Sellers & Harry Secombe constantly refering to it as such
