Where your money really goes when you buy wine

I'd be surprised if the wine producer gets that much - very surprised.

On a slightly different level I remember meeting a chicken farmer around 5-6 years ago - yep, a broiler unit - inhumane and the origin of some very poor quality meat, but either way his amount per head charitably offered by the big supermarkets, was a staggering 7p. No wonder he needed 10,000 in the same barn.

After 1985 then!
1988 actually . I was in the first GCSE examined year. yes that makes me 41 this year

and we used to go to the cricket pitch sit behind the sight screens and get mullered on Merrydown and Tennents or occasionally kestrel superstrength.
looking the oldest I was the one that was always sent into one of the offlicences in walking/cycling distance. there was a little one in Ewloe that served anybody who looked remotely 18.

I was referring to the last year they were difficult before they got easy in preparation for GCSE's.

having sat O levels 2 years early I would have preffered the O Level course rather than coursework obblox .

If you are ever near Evesham and want to lose your sense of taste/stomach lining, drop into the Plough at Elmley castle and sample their scrumpy cider (served in china mugs)

many years ago when my dad was on the long distance work he went to a pub in herefordshire /gloucestershire and had a pint of scrumpy, some of if spilled out of the china tankard he was using and it lifted the varnish ( what little remained) off the bar. he said it was one of the nicest pints he had ever had !!

Homebrew is the way to go. Last week I bottled 30 bottles of shiraz (£37 for kit). Next week I'll be bottling 30 bottles of pinot grigio (£23 for kit & sugar). No duty, very little retaillers margin and just 30 corks needed as I re-use bottles and get other to save them for me.
I'm going to start investigating countryside wines when we get some fruit to gather .

I was on Crete a few years ago sat in a bar having breakfast. The bartender was pouring some colourless liquid from a bottle onto a cloth and wiping down the bar top. He then poured some into a glass and drank it. Raki .

Blackberry wine is easy to make (especially if you have all the gear), and they are easy to find.
