I have fallen back in love with quirky switches.

We were never close having only seen each other a few times over 15 years or so.
Which is why apparently, washing machines STILL have a turn dial rather than micro switch buttons or a touch screen to set the programme.
The manufacturers claim that it's what the great British public expect.
Anyone remember the Hoover Keymatic - ? So way ahead of it's time in the 60s. ^_^

This is totally out of order,EV or ICE, removing features from a car, to grift a few more quid out of the owner, so buttons and not connected to anything seems to be the way to go

Happens all the time with TVs and related "set top boxes". After a few years apps which were splattered all over the packaging as being a feature get deleted or stop working.
Often the issue with those is new coding which is incompatible with the TV/box in question. It being upto the manufacturer to issue new firmware but often they do not.

A number of years ago I bought a one year old car that, when sold new, included three years of free updates for the satnav maps. A year into my ownership they stopped producing maps it full stop. I took it up with the manufacturer, I’m well known within the family for being persistent, and they finally offered me a financial settlement and a “complimentary“ upgrade to their new satnav system.

The Nissan app was shockingly bad. It relied on 2g connection, 99% of the time never communicated with the car.

We like so many others complained, but we deleted it, never bothered with it again
