CdF is not really a cyclocross bike but at a push you could use it in an event. It has relatively high gearing, with a compact double chainset making it speedy on roads, although it is kind of heavy so won't break any records. Also has mounting points for racks and guards.
CdA is more of a proper cyclocrosser - lower geared, with only a single chainring (avoids front mech fouling with mud), and fatter tyres for good grip off road.
For light trails and roads personally I'd pick the CdF. I own one and use it for commuting and occasional light trail riding, but I did buy a proper roadie which I do most of my weekend and fast riding on.
