I'm resolutely atheist but the hymn "O Valiant Hearts" always raises a tear.

More esoterically so does Puff the Magic Dragon - something about the line "Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave"

Cheesy, I know, but 'Sylvias Mother' by Doctor Hook always gets me. When I was a nipper I had the most beatiful rabbit (Hermione.....I called her Herman initially until I found out she was a girl!) and one morning when I went out to feed her I found her dead in her pen at the top of the garden. It looked as if a fox had broken in and killed her. I was in a right state so my Mum gave me 50p to try and make things better and I went out and bought my first ever record.

But this one .....

....has the same effect. I played it when I got home from losing Stan, my big handsome cat.
It just seems right.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Talking heads' 'Niave Melody' and 'Heaven' make me choke every time I hear them, even after twenty-five odd years

the first track off eno's music for airports (1:1) is Jaw dropping.

Gaye's 'what's going on' gets me good.

Loads of classical stuff, the most of which i can't name.

The Verdi Requiem makes me happy, sad and exhilarated. Singing in the chorus at the Barbican with Christine Brewer in the soprano role was probably one of the most exciting experiences of my life.

** Oh and the Tuba Mirum section of the Dies Ire kicks bottom!
