Which pros have you passed on the road?

Does an ex Pro count? A couple of years ago Dean Downing led our club ride, at the finished he sprinted away from the group with me in his draught. Once we'd stopped he apologised to the group, 'it was the pacer in him and he got carried away'. At which point I pointed out I had used him as my lead out man :okay:

Have I ever mentioned the time I gave David Millar a 20 second, and about 300m, head start in a race and overtook him? He was pretty much retired by then, so it probably wouldn't count.
The story is evidently still to unfold, Adrian.... (If it had anything to do with Brommies.)

Depending where you ride in Sheffield you will pass many pros they stand at the side of the road & ask if you want any business as you ride by.

Long time ago, got caught by the "Kirby" chain gang, containing Doug Dailey, Dave Rollinson and a host of others. Stayed with them for a few miles before being dropped. Also crossed with Reg Harris once.

Was fishing on a commie many years ago and BW was mowing his field (garden)
often seen him out and about before he won the tour and London 2012. Thinks he spends more time down south now.

Many years ago I passed Dan Craven on the Bristol/Bath railway path (going in opposite directions), and he seemed to be going at a leisurely pace.

Also some years ago Zak Dempster used to frequently be spotted waiting by the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol before going on training rides.

In fact I've replied to a similar thread in the past:

Have you seen any top pros when riding?
