I need a different saddle for the MTB.
I'm not out of the saddle as much as I should be on it, so get very uncomfortable on the current saddle.
I have found two saddles that have what I'm looking for and have found them at roughly the same price.

So, any experience of either?

The Selle Royal Athletic Profile....I have the non-athletic version of this on my hybrid and it's very comfy

The Selle SMP TRK - heard great things about this saddle.

Everybody's bum is different and what works for one may be hell on wheels for someone else, and vice versa.

That's the problem
Both should be okay as I like the make and it seems to suit me. I just can't decide between these two
I am rather 'delicate' after yesterdays 18.5 miles on the MTB

I'd be tempted to go with this first (the better the devil you know and all that) although the type of saddle I have on my hybrid doesn't work for me on the road bike and tourer. Having said that, it's flat bars vs drops, whereas both the hybrid and the MTB are flat bars so your position shouldn't be too different.

I was also thinking 'stick with what you know'.
It took me a couple of weeks to feel really comfy on the hybrid saddle after I put it on, but i know I'm not going to get off the bike feeling sore.

I've taken the plunge and ordered the Selle Royal.
If it doesn't suit the MTB (which I'm sure it will) then I'll keep it for my future purchase of a sports hybrid

To an experienced, hardened cyclist a soft squidgy saddle is hell. Why? Firstly because they make you sweat, which causes chafing and secondly because your sit bones will sink into the padding transferring the load to soft tissue, which hurts and makes you sweat, etc.

You'd be better off with a firm but well-shaped women's saddle like a Charge Ladle.

Before spending money on a fancy saddle it's always worth getting a professional opinion on the angle, height and forward-aft position as these three factors can determine comfort. If you can't get an opinion, post a pic of the bike from the right side on here; there are lots of expereinced cyclists who can tell a lot just by looking at your setup. A second photo of you seated on the bike will tell them even more.

I have a decent quality 'hard' saddle. It kills me!
