The heavier one will be too warm. It's not going to get anywhere near freezing along that route unless you are extremely unlucky.

Take the lightweight + a liner (silk if you have the funds, otherwise Pertex). Liner makes a big difference.

Top tip from many years backpacking in Scotland, but still apparently a novelty to some people who camp. If it's cold, sleep in socks and gloves and a hat. Especially the hat.

I would just use what you have. Yes, it is bulky and heavy, but not horribly so. If you want something that is really a lot better, get a Western Mountaineering. But only when you need it. There is no point in replacing one cheap bag for another.

How much of a difference (in lowest temp) do you reckon a (silk) liner makes?

Erm, depends a bit on where you go - there's lots of mountains in southern Spain. The 'nevada' in Sierra Nevada means 'snowy'.
